In line with the Heritage Commission and the Ministry of Culture’s commitment to preserving urban heritage and enhancing the cultural identity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Heritage Commission has signed a contract with Fadha Engineering Consultants to implement a comprehensive project focused on documenting and rehabilitating a number of historical buildings and sites of cultural and architectural value, in alignment with the Commission’s publicly announced objectives for safeguarding national heritage.
This project aims to develop a comprehensive vision for revitalizing heritage buildings through the preparation of accurate documentation and technical studies, based on international standards and modern technological tools, including the use of Historic Building Information Modeling (H-BIM). This initiative is aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which places culture and heritage at the heart of sustainable development priorities.

With its extensive experience in architectural design and specialized engineering studies, Fadha Engineering Consultants is responsible for analyzing the current condition of the selected buildings from historical, architectural, environmental, and social perspectives. The company will also provide design solutions that preserve the authenticity of heritage elements while adapting them for contemporary uses that meet local community needs.

The project scope includes the preparation of executive designs and detailed rehabilitation plans, along with the documentation of all work stages using advanced digital technologies, contributing to the creation of a comprehensive database that supports future decision-making in preservation, management, and development efforts.
Through this collaboration, the company seeks to achieve a set of goals:
- Accurately documenting the current condition of heritage buildings By preparing specialized studies that combine photographic documentation, architectural surveying, and environmental and social analyses, to form a comprehensive picture that supports informed development decisions.
- Developing balanced design solutions that bridge authenticity and modernity Designing rehabilitation scenarios that preserve historical and architectural value while integrating contemporary usage needs, ensuring the buildings’ sustainability on both functional and cultural levels.
- Complying with local and international heritage protection standards Applying best practices and adhering to national and international charters (such as UNESCO standards and international conventions) throughout all phases of study, design, and implementation.
- Driving digital transformation in heritage information management by Utilizing Historic Building Information Modeling (H-BIM) to establish a comprehensive database that supports the decisions of relevant authorities and facilitates future building condition monitoring and management.
- Promoting sustainable development through community integration Integrating social, cultural, and economic dimensions into the rehabilitation and development processes, ensuring that these buildings contribute to improving quality of life and enhancing local identity.
This project represents not only a technical and engineering commitment but also a deep belief in the importance of heritage as a driver for cultural, tourism, and social development. FADHA Engineering Consultants is keen to make this project a model of successful collaboration between the public and private sectors in serving culture and heritage.
